Sunday July 25, 2010

Sunday July 25, 2010. Joan and I are not to Tim Horton's today, instead we're going to our sister Sharon's place for brunch. Joan's birthday was July 17, but last weekend our sister Joyce (whose birthday is July 18) was celebrating her 40th wedding anniversary, so were at her cottage for a family Bar-B-Q (Joan didn't want to attend as it would have been just to hot for her).

I picked Joan up around 10:30 and we headed for the Parkdale Market to purchase some gladilos (six yellow for Sharon, six mauve for Joyce and six Orange for Joan).

We arrived at Sharon's just after 11:00 and went to the patio for our cup of tea. Lorna , Joyce, Sharon and barry were already there. Marian arrived about 10 minutes later and she had bought sun hats for all the ladies....

Around 12:30 we went inside and had the brunch. My sisters had made a lovely brunch consisting og home fries, three quiches, a green saled and Mrian made her ambrosia.

After brunch we went back outside and this time went to the other side of the house and sat around and had tea and strawberry short cake. While enjoying the beautiful day we watched as Barry planted some small shrubs for Sharon.

Around 2:30 Joan was starting to tire so we packed up the wheelchair and I took Joan home..

Happy Birthday Joan!!!

Saturday July 10, 2010

Saturday July 10, 2010. Going to another Bar-B-Q on Sunday, so I'm taking Joan out today. I picked Joan up at 10.30 (she was in the lobby waiting like last Friday, but this time it was because I phoned her first).

We jumped on the 417 and headed for the Walkley Road exit. Got off at Walkley and two blocks west was the Tim Horton's. While ordering at the intercom the clerks inside thought they would have some fun with Joan and I. With each order we were speaking with two different clerks through the intercom. When we got to the window we found out who they were and we all had a good laugh, one of the first Tim Horton's where the clerks showed a sense of humour.

We started the order with Tyler...

...then Ashley took over, and then they went back and forth through the whole order.

We phoned Aunt Mildred and she was home so we headed to her place and when we arrived she was outside the building waiting for us. We stayed for about half-an-hour and then we left to go to Glenn's hip Wagon for hot dogs and french fries.

After lunch I took Joan home. We arrived at 12:30.

Sunday July 4, 2010

Sunday July 4, 2010. I didn't take Joan out today (took her out on Friday), instead I picked up my friend Anna and we headed to Long Sault, to her sister Christine's place, for a 4th of July Bar-B-Q

We took the 417 and exited at the Lemoges/Embrum exit. Along the way we past through a number of very small towns and hamelts.

Crysler was the first town we passed through.

Next was a smaller town of
Berwwick.

Next was the town of Finch.

Then onto Newington.

One more town, Lunenburg.

And then finally we arrived in Long Sault.

Just a few more miles and we cross over to Moulinette Island.

Then just after 1 hour and 45 minutes we arrived at Christine's and Doug's place.

A pleasant afternoon of sitting by the water front and snacking on chips and dip and veggies, with georgous weather and plesant conversation.

Then it's on with the life jackets.......we're going boating.

View from the back of the boat.

Back from the boat ride, more chips and dip and conversation and then it was time for the Bar-B-Q. Hamburgers, sausages, bean salad, potatoe salad, pasta salad and green salad. Then tea and desserts.

We left Doug's and Christine's at 8.25 and back in Ottawa around 9.45. Dropped Anna off and home just after 10:00. What a lovely day............

Friday July 2, 2010

Friday, July 2, 2010. I'm going to Lang Sault on Sunday for a Bar-B-Q, so I won't see Joan, so I'm taking her out today.

I picked Joan up around 10.15, but instead of heading for a Tim Horton's we went to see my friend Joanne. I had a package that I had to drop off. Joanne met us down stairs and we stayed for a while and chatted. Then we headed for the 417 to take the 416 to Fallowfield and then Strandherd.

We stopped at the Tim Horton's at 3691 Strandherd Dr. and we waited in the line for about 10 minutes only to find that their toaster wasn't working. So we left and went down the road to the "On the Run" Tim Horton's and Joan ordered an Ice coffee (there cappuccino machine wasn't working)and I ordered a tea and a bagel to split. We went across the street to the Day Care parking lot to have our breakfast.

T hen we went to Kristal's place but she wasn't home so I just left the Tupperware in the chair at the front door(this was the Tupperware I used to take home the pizza slices at Joshua's birthday party a couple of weeks ago). I phoned Kristal and we left a message about the Tupperware.

Then we headed for the 417 and went to the grave yard (yesterday marked twelve years since Mom died). My friend Anna had given me some tree bark to use around the hosta Marian gave me for the grave. Anna said that it should help with the growth. We phoned Sharon and said we were leaving the grave yard and headed to Richmond Road to go and have chips and hotdogs at Glenn's Chip Wagon, but when we got there, he wasn't there so we went to Donna's Restuarant for a bacon sandwich. Sharon called and said she was on her way so we waited. Sharon arrived and we chatted , then Joan said she was tired so we left.

G0t Joan home just before 2:00.
