Sunday May 30, 2010

Sunday May 30, 2010. I picked Joan up at 10:30 today. We're going to the Tim Horton's on Hunt Club today.

We got there a little after 11:00. It was an "On the Run" with a drive through. We ordered our usual, tea and a bagel, but I just found out something I never knew before. When ordering I asked for a tea and she kept saying "we only have steeped tea" and I said that was alright because at most Tim Horton's we order steeped tea. When we got to the window I asked how they could have steeped tea without any tea bags. You see my understanding of steeped tea was that it's the process of leaving the tea bag in the pot till you get the desired colour of the tea you want, and that what was called steeping. Yet when we got to the window she said that they're steeped came in a package and it was prepared similar to the coffee process. You put the tea leaves in a filter and the hot water seeps through it. "Well you live and learn" They didn't have any bagels so we ordered an apple fritter.

Before we got into the drive through line there was a red car parked on the side and as we got closer we saw a dog sitting in the driver seat with the window rolled down. Cute.

We ate the fritter but we missed having our bagel and peanut butter so we drove up the road and stopped at the next Tim Horton's on Hunt Club. We were in the line for about 15 minutes, ordered our bagels (which we were going to have for lunch), and when we got to the window the were out of multi-grain and even whole wheat bagels so I got my money back and we left.

So we drove around for a bit then headed to Donna's Restaurant for bacon sandwiches. I drove Joan home at around 1:00.

Sunday May 23, 2010

Sunday May 23, 2010. Today is Dad's birthday, he would have been 91 today. It's been twenty-two years since he died. I picked Joan up at 10:00 today; we're going downtown and then to the grave yard.

We took the Queenways and got off on Nichols Street and headed for St. Patrick's Street. Took a while to figure out the one-way streets and no left-turns and no right-turns streets before we finally arrived at the Tim Horton's.(no drive through) We ordered the usual tea and a bagel.

We drove to the grave yard and have our breakfast. Then I got out of the car and started to plant the hosta plant that Marian gave me yesterday. Cleaned around the stone (removed the weeds) and then trimmed the cedar. Washed up and then we left.

We drove by Chelsea and Chris' place but they weren't home so we jumped back on the Queensway and headed to Scott's Street. We went to Donna's Restaurant and split a bacon sandwich. Drove Joan home and arrived at 1:00.

Sunday May 16, 2010

Sunday May 16, 2010. I picked Joan up around 10:30 today. We're not going very far today (was out last night at the Keg Manor and I'm a little tired today).

We headed downtown to go to the Tim Horton's on Bank Street. We ordered our usual tea and bagel and then headed towards the Queen Elizabeth Drive along the canal to find a place to eat.

We pulled off the driveway and parked on a side street to have our breakfast. Joan was in a real friendly mood today; she said "Hello" to all the people who passed by.

After we finished our tea and bagel we continued along the driveway heading west. We stopped along the way to take a few pictures.

There was this one big yellow house that had a very large sculpture on the front lawn; all though I had no idea who it was suppose to be.

The traffic really slowed down as we approached Dow's Lake; tons of people were everywhere taking advantage of the gorgeous weather and the second weekend of the "Tulip Festival". We headed down Preston Street to take in the sites (boy have there every cleaned up that street).

We drove through Mechanicsville and stopped off at the Parkdale Market to say "Hello" to Warren , my friend who has a floral booth, and we also ran into my friend Brian so we stopped again and chatted.

Then we headed to Glenn's Chip Wagon for hot dogs and fries for lunch. Took Joan home at 12:30.

Sunday May 9, 2010

Sunday May 9, 2010. Mother's Day. I picked Joan up around 10:15 this morning. Since today is Mother's Day we're going to visit Mom's grave. So I looked up on my list of Tim Horton's and noticed there were two Tim Horton's on Montreal Road that we hadn't gone to yet.

We arrived at the first Tim Horton's just after 11:00 and we ordered two teas and our usual bagel with peanut butter. We then drove to Notre Dame Cemetery to have our breakfast.

We usual visit the grave site at least two to three times a year. The grave site is looking a bit shabby these days; maybe I might trim the little tree and I need to find some kind of perennial.

After we finished our tea and bagel we left the grave yard and headed north on St. Laurent Blvd. Shortly we arrived at this area with some very large, and very nice homes. We weren't sure exactly where we were so we stopped this couple walking and they told us we were in Manor Park.

We finished viewing the homes and after asking for direction we ended back on St. Laurent Blvd and headed for the second Tim Horton's on Montreal Road for lunch. Joan ordered a ham and Swiss cheese and I ordered a turkey bacon, on those new soft buns that they advertise on their commercials (and yes they are good..)

We finished lunch, stole some lilacs got back on the Queensway and headed home. We arrived just after 12:30.

Sunday May 2, 2010

Sunday May 2, 2010. Well I finally got my car back; would you believe it took the body shop two weeks. I picked Joan up at around 10:30 today; we're going to the Tim Horton's on Bank Street near Heron Road.

We arrived at Tim Horton's just after 11:00 and ordered a coffee for Joan and a tea for me. They didn't have multi-grain so we had to settle for a whole wheat bagel instead.

Then we went to visit our Aunt Alice and our cousin Mary. I was returning the pictures that Mary had loaned me two weeks ago. Mary's son Jarred was there as well. We stayed for about half an hour and then left.

We took Baseline Road to Prince of Whales and drove past the experimental farm. The trees are really starting to blossom and the apple or cherry trees (not sure which is which) just look beautiful this time of the year.

Driving along the drive way through the farm we couldn't help noticing the tulips.

Then we went to Donna's Restaurant and split a bacon sandwich. Drove Joan home around 12:45.
