Sunday August 29, 2010

Sunday August 29, 2010. It's a beautiful day today so I think Joan and I should take a nice long drive. I picked Joan up around 10:30 this morning and suggested we go to Arnprior. (Prior to picking Joan up I google Tim Horton's +Arnprior and found out there were 2 and I phoned and both were opened)

We took the 417 and arrived just shortly after 11:15 and found the first Tim Horton's and we ordered two teas and a bagel. We went down the road looking for a shady spot and found one just in front of some farm.

(St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church)

After finishing our tea and bagel we starting driving around town to see what Arnprior had to offer. Since both Joan I like churches we started looking for them. The first church was a Presbyterian.

(The Angelican Church of Canada - Emmanuelle Church)

Next was an angelican church.

(Grace St. Andrew's United Church)

Then a united church.

We continued to drive around looking for the the catholic church (surely they had one). Meanwhile we took in some of the other old buildings in town. We went down to the marina to view the river and bridge.

We found the downtown area.

We finally found the catholic church on the highest hill in the town (of course).

(St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church)

It was getting close to lunch time so we started looking for the other Tim Horton's and as we were doing that we ran across an intersection of the streets Victoria and ALbert. (I find it interesting when you found intersection with names that have some reference to famous people, for example Ottawa has and intersection named Bonnie and Clyde)

We found the other Tim Horton's and we oredered and ice tea and Joan had a ham and swiss cheese sandwich and I had an egg salad. We spoke with the clerk Tamara about being from Ottawa and how we visit all the Tim Horotn's in the Ottawa and surrounding area.

It was a long day so we headed home and arrived around 2:30.

Sunday August 22, 2010

Sunday August 22, 2010. Joan was out on Friday August 20 at her daughter's place,(Kristal) and didn't return until Saturday. Jodi and her husband Jeff and the two kids, Shayla and Nathan were in town for the weekend. So I phoned Joan first to see if we were going out to Tim Horton's or was I bringing it in (Joan sometimes gets very tired when she's been out). Well she was in a great mood and was eager to go out.

I arrived around 10:30 just in time to see Jodi and Jeff and the kids and catch up with them about thing in their lives. They left and Joan and I got in the car ready to go to Tim Horton's.

We got on the 417 and exited at March Road and found the Tim Horten's and we ordered two tea and a bagel; however when I got the receipt I realized we'd gone to the wrong Tim's. We were looking for the one on March Road and ended up at the one on Carling (which we'd already been to and we already have our picture). So we parked in a parking lot next door and had our tea and bagel.

When finished we left looking for the Tim Horton's at 600 Carling Avenue. Well we found it and to our disappointment it was in an office building, and it's not opened on the weekend. So we drove down March Road and stopped at the other Tim Horton's (which is an On the Run) which we'd been to but never got a picture.

Well we drove in and then out and stopped just long enough to take an picture. Then we drove to my friend Joanne's on Eagleson and stayed for a smoke and a short chat. Joanne said we should go to the USA to shop and I said yes but I need to get my new passport first. We left Joanne's and and headed for the Colonnade Restaurant on Hazeldean to get a pizza for lunch.

We finished our pizza (which we ate in the parking lot) and then I took Joan home.

Friday August 13, 2010

Friday August 13, 2010. My friend Joanne and I are going to Pembroke on Saturday for a Bar-B-Q with her friends Hugh and Nikki and we may stay over, so just in case we do I'm taking Joan out today in lieu of our usual Sunday.

I called Joan to tell her I was coming , but she said "no good" meaning she didn't want to go out today, so I asked was it okay that I come in, and she said yes.

Around 10:30 I headed out and stopped at the Tim Horton's on Eagleson Road and picked up an Ice Capped Mocha for Joan and a tea for me and a bagel.

We ate in the common area of Joan's floor and then we went outside to the gazebo in the back yard for some fresh air.

I left about an hour after arriving, Joan was very tired today.

Monday August 9, 2010

Monday August 9, 2010. I missed my usual Sunday outing with Joan. I wasn't feeling well so my sister Sharon took my place; however feeling better today so I went and picked Joan up at around 10:00.

We decided to go to Kemptville and check out their Tim Horton's. We took the 416. It took about half an hour to get there and we drove around until we found the Tim Horton's. I ordered a tea and Joan had an Ice Capp Mocha along with our usual mulit-grain bagel with peanut butter.

We left Tim's and headed further into town looking for a place to stop and have our breakfast. We stopped and parked in the parking lot of Holy Cross High School, which was right next door to the Holy Cross Catholic Church.

(Holy Cross Catholic Church)

(St.James Anglican Church)

Then we decided to check out the town and see what else there was to see. As we were leaving the parking lot we noticed that there was another church further down the street. Both Joan and I like looking for churches when we visit small towns. The church down the street was a protestant church. Next to it (built in the same style) was another building (not sure what it was though). Wasn't sure if it was a rectory or possibly an old town hall.
(Leslie Hall)

(St. Paul's Presbyterian Church)

Then we went down what we assumed to be main street, and further down the street we found two churches (across the street from each other).

( St. John United Church)

We drove around just taking in the sites, the atmosphere, and the old buildings which still stood. We came across these two old houses on Main Street.

Around 12:00 we started looking for a local chip wagon. We stopped a kid on the street and ask "where the best fries were?" and he said "the Dairy Barn" which was back on Hwy 43 just as you enetered Kemptville.

We drove down the street and parked in front of a grave yard and ate our hot dogs and fries. We left Kemptville and arived back in Ottawa by 1:00.

Tuesday August 3, 2010

Tuesday August 3, 2010. Joan had a fever on Sunday (August 1) when I went in to see her, and the nurse recommended that we do not go out. Today (fever gone) I picked Joan up around 10:30 and we went out.

We went to the Tim Horton's in Barhaven on Rideaucrest Drive. I ordered a tea and Joan ordered an Ice Capp Mocha and since they didn't have any multi-grain bagels we had a Sesame seed one, with peanut butter.

We drove down the street a bit and stopped at the Adrianne Clarckson school and parked in the parking lot to eat our breakfast.

Then we phoned Kristal's and even though she wasn't home the kids were (with the babysitter), so we went for a short visit. I wanted to see the new deck that Dale (Kristal's husband) built.

(Avery(6), Mason(6), Joan and Joshua(8))

After our visit with Joan's grandchildren we left and headed to Bell's Corners looking for a Wendy's to have lunch. Well, when we got there we couldn't find one so we headed to Kanata and stopped at the Wendy's on Edgewater. We each had a hamburger and split fries and a coke.

Took Joan home home around 12:30,; she was very tired.
