Monday August 9, 2010

Monday August 9, 2010. I missed my usual Sunday outing with Joan. I wasn't feeling well so my sister Sharon took my place; however feeling better today so I went and picked Joan up at around 10:00.

We decided to go to Kemptville and check out their Tim Horton's. We took the 416. It took about half an hour to get there and we drove around until we found the Tim Horton's. I ordered a tea and Joan had an Ice Capp Mocha along with our usual mulit-grain bagel with peanut butter.

We left Tim's and headed further into town looking for a place to stop and have our breakfast. We stopped and parked in the parking lot of Holy Cross High School, which was right next door to the Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Then we decided to check out the town and see what else there was to see. As we were leaving the parking lot we noticed that there was another church further down the street. Both Joan and I like looking for churches when we visit small towns. The church down the street was a protestant church. Next to it (built in the same style) was another building (not sure what it was though). Wasn't sure if it was a rectory or possibly an old town hall.

Then we went down what we assumed to be main street, and further down the street we found two churches (across the street from each other).

( St. John United Church)

We drove around just taking in the sites, the atmosphere, and the old buildings which still stood. We came across these two old houses on Main Street.

Around 12:00 we started looking for a local chip wagon. We stopped a kid on the street and ask "where the best fries were?" and he said "the Dairy Barn" which was back on Hwy 43 just as you enetered Kemptville.

We drove down the street and parked in front of a grave yard and ate our hot dogs and fries. We left Kemptville and arived back in Ottawa by 1:00.
